Circle rules

1. Make sure the child feels comfortable

SitCircle works best when the person offering to sit is someone the family knows personally and feels comfortable with. In some communities, parents may know each other well before the children have spent time with those adults. Before a first sit, make sure the child has had a chance to meet or spend time with the person who will actually be caring for them. For international communities, language settings may be visible in family profiles so parents can decide whether fluency in a home language matters for their child.

2. Share practical details before the sit

The app does not collect home addresses. After a sit is confirmed, families should share the address, handoff notes, bedtime details, allergies, emergency contacts, and anything else the sitter needs directly with each other.

3. Handle emergencies first

If there is an immediate danger, serious injury, medical emergency, fire, or any situation where urgent help is needed, contact local emergency services first. Then contact the parents as soon as it is safe to do so. For urgent but non-emergency details, use direct contact such as phone, text, or WhatsApp.

4. Be clear about illness

If anyone in your household is currently unwell, do not take a sit. If your household has been ill in the last 5 days, tell the requesting family before the sit so they can decide whether to continue.

5. Keep children where parents expect them to be

Children should not be taken off the premises, guests should not be invited into the home, and sitters should not bring their own children unless the requesting family has explicitly agreed in advance.

6. Respect children's privacy

Do not take or share photos or videos of children during sits unless the requesting family has clearly asked for a direct update sent only to them.

7. No alcohol or substances while sitting

Do not consume alcohol or any substances while responsible for someone else's children. This applies from the moment you arrive until the parents are home.

8. Treat the circle with care and consideration

This community is built on trust between families. Treat every home, every child, and every family the way you would want your own family to be treated. Complete sits promptly, keep your requests and offers accurate, and stay engaged with your circle so the system stays fair for everyone.
